Wired on Wii-eight loss

06/04/07 | by Adam | Categories: Silly

This one's for the new Wii owner on this blog. From Wired 15.05:

Instead Of Play...
1.5 hours of weight lifting (842 calories) 1 hour of Dance Dance Revolution (900 calories)
30 minutes of aerobics (242 calories) 30 minutes of Wii Boxing (250 calories)
20 minutes of jogging (198 calories) 1 hour of PS3/XBox on the couch (204 calories)
15 minutes of sex (33 calories) 7 minutes of Wii Tennis (46 calories)

When I do DDR in workout mode (which is admittedly only from time to time), it’s typically a 150-calorie workout, which is just enough to be uncomfortable and just enough time to be antisocial on the dance pad downstairs :)

(And then I do something stupid like try some of the Challenging levels and wind myself completely)

1 hour of PS3/Xbox on the couch = 204 calories?! Projecting sex out to an hour, it would be only 132 calories. How do they figure? :)

Lily

What do you mean, “Instead of” sex? :P

I just recently got a Wii as well. It’s great watching my son copying the motions of bowling. He’ll be able to Wii like a pro once he figures out the Wii-mote.

“Oh, baby! Serve it! Backhand! Backhand!”

I’m not sure whether it would void the warranty, Lily, but it ought to ;) The whole system has amazing adult game potential, too, but I don’t even want to go there ;)

The in-laws quite enjoyed the system this weekend. Cooking Mama Cook-Off is fun, albeit damned confusing, and Mario Party 8 sucked Dena’s dad in pretty well :)

You mean Robert can’t already Wii like a pro? When is toilet training starting again?

(*laugh* I know better than to make jokes, too, based on what I’ll be faced with this fall :)

I gotta say between DDR and the Wii, it’s a pretty good answer to the “kids never get off their butts” complaint about video games.

Now if only blogging could be made more physically active. No, not by using the Wii remote on that on-screen keyboard.

I know you want to build a WiigoBot.

"Ready, Aye, Ready" was a slogan used by Canadian politicians to indicate Canada's willingness to assist the British Empire in any conflict. It remains in use as a motto for some of the Canadian military. It has almost nothing to do with the content of this blog.
