BoingBoing has a post about a letter sent in the UK that arrived. In and of itself, that conclusion is perhaps not all that special, but it's the way that the letter was addressed which is rather more interesting...

There was a very interesting old man (Jumbe, I think his name was) who ran a store in Zanzibar that claimed that you could actually just address a letter to him by name, just specifying “Tanzania” for the place, since he was such a fixture of the place.

We’ve been sorely tempted to do so :)
