Upgrading systems is for the birds

08/28/06 | by Adam | Categories: Technology, Whining

As time moves on, I get less and less interested in playing with the internals of computers. Each time these days I open up a computer to do some maintenance I'm reminded again that it's not fun any more, but work.

There was more but it got lost with the overall blog's hacker takedown. This was all I could recover from the Google cache. Oh well.

Yes, there are a few posts I’ve lost everything past the “More…” link on. ‘Tis a sad thing.

I’ll have to figure out that remote FTP backup and how to get it back through the router here before my quota fills up again. Until then, I’ll try to do regular backups.

(I’m a little disappointed that all the provider’s backups were online and hackable, though…moof)

I’m only reminded of the grinding non-fun of upgrades when I screw everything back together and it doesn’t work the first time… or the tenth… or there’s something physically in the way that needs disassembly… like the CPU cooling unit with that freaking clip that’s hard for two-armed humans to install in the first place…

Oof :)

"Ready, Aye, Ready" was a slogan used by Canadian politicians to indicate Canada's willingness to assist the British Empire in any conflict. It remains in use as a motto for some of the Canadian military. It has almost nothing to do with the content of this blog.
