We were invited out to dinner at the last moment tonight - to the Kinjo Sushi & Grill. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise.
It's a really newly-opened restaurant, located where the old Tim Horton's used to be just south of Chinook Center, right by the Denny's. They were still waiting on their liquor license when we walked in. It was still buzzing with the energy of a new restaurant.
It's a Japanese restaurant, run by Japanese. There's a floating sushi bar in the center of the restaurant. The food is very good, and very reasonably priced. Six of us dined for about $120, practically unheard of at a sushi restaurant.
There's a very colourful character who makes the rounds at the tables. I don't know how long this will last, but he certainly had energy, running between tables, making the men profess undying love to their partners, giving out Pocky and free tempura. The 'VIP Card' (free, at least as of this writing) gives steadily increasing discounts on the sushi.
Dang, the food was good :)
Highly recommended :)

My husband and I had the worst experience at Kinjo Sushi. Our waiter lost our order and we had to wait for a very long time for our food as a result. Not all of the food we ordered was served to us either. When we asked for the bill we asked for a discount because of the wait and the owner YELLED at us. He screamed that we should leave and never come back over and over again. When I tried to explain why we had asked for a discount (we did not ask for a free meal) he ignored me, was rude and insisted that the chefs apologize to us. If he had just listened…
We do not recommend this establishement to anyone. Obviously the owner makes too much money to care about his customers.
